ECA specializes in the development of evidence-based evaluation products.
We bring in-depth knowledge of survey design, data collection, survey management, data management, data analysis, progress monitoring and reports and recommendations. We are proficient in virtually every mode of data collection and analysis and have extensive experience in a variety of social science research methodologies from case studies and implementation evaluations to outcome and process evaluations, and meeting the gold standard of comparison group studies.
Survey Design and Sampling
ECA & the Warren Institute conduct a range of surveys from small scale, time-limited research to large scale and longitudinal studies. For example, an evaluation that uses a quasi-experimental non-equivalent comparison group design includes local comparison groups, comparison groups across multiple sites, and comparison data from a national database of adults, children, adolescents and families who have the same characteristics and education interventions.
Data Collection Modalities and Survey Administration
We conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection for our research and evaluation projects. Methods of data collection include environment and classroom observations, focus groups, surveys, interviews, and child and adult assessments for a wide range of ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic populations.
We forms teams of field staff, provide training, transfer data from field sites to our central office, develop and support data entry, and develop analytic data files through data cleaning and formatting. ECA initiates quality control procedures to collect thousands of data items from evaluation protocols, focus groups, and interviews.
We input data and create databases, clean data, conduct quality control checks and perform complex econometric and cost-assessment analysis. We employ statisticians, sampling experts, and use computerized statistical resources to process and analyze data and large national datasets.
Reports and Recommendations
ECA & the Warren Institute use the evaluation findings to develop research briefs, position statements, and marketing messages.
Workshops in Evaluation
ECA & the Warren Institute provide technical assistance and training to programs in the science and art of evaluation, including Methods for Evaluating Programs such as:
- Workforce Development
- Family Literacy
- Community Partnerships
- Social Service agencies
This workshop covers survey design, data collection management, data analysis, and the development of evidence-based evaluation products directly applicable to your program or business.
