Courtney Williams, Founder of Torsh, presenter at The Leadership Institute

What are the characteristics of great leadership in early education and care? At the Early Childhood Strategic Leadership Institute on June 14th sponsored by ECA and Wellesley College, we explored that question. Amy O’Leary, NAEYC President led the closing panel where aha moments about the Institute were shared. Highlights of the day included the importance of reflective practices by leaders including the use of reflective supervision. Helping teachers to be successful in their instructional practices was of strong interest to leaders. Using coaching strategies with program personnel was something many wanted to do. Building leadership capacity within their organization was an expressed desire. Meeting the needs of all children was a prevalent theme.
